LAB FOR KIDS
NEL BLU DIPINTO DI BLU
This workshop for children is based on an approach I have developed over many years while working as an educator, psychologist, dance therapist and artist with social cooperatives and NGOs. I have worked with children with different motor, cognitive, psychological and neuropsychiatric skills and with children of different cultures and ages.
Although working in complete autonomy, I have always communicated and collaborated with key people connected to these projects, such as social workers, neuropsychiatrists, psychologists, educators, teachers and parents. However, I have always given priority to and prefer having direct relationships with children.
I nourish my relationships with children using a blend of honesty and loyalty: we laugh together, we get excited together, we make and unravel worlds together. The children follow, respond and grow in confidence; they may be carried to the end of the world or gently back to themselves. Because of the nature and responsibilities of this work, my intentions are clear and guided by love and generosity, especially so when difficulties and suffering come to the surface.
This workshop aims to enhance the skills of individuals or to reveal individuals to themselves through movement, the body and the expression of emotion in dance. To help achieve this goal, other elements are calmly introduced with wisdom and without haste.
SELF-ESTEEM is built through the creation of a physical space in which everyone can find a place and be heard. Self-confidence then grows in an essential place that’s invisible to the eye: our own internal space, where our inner voice may continuously resound its warnings or needs.
SOLIDARITY AMONGST MEMBERS OF THE GROUP is a fundamental element for these laboratories. We build solidarity by working together, taking care of each other, valuing the differences of others, openly highlighting the difficulties and discussing issues that create friction. Each person is invited to express what they carry within, supported by the loving presence of the others.
ART is created through narratives and given shape through dance. Music is chosen and one's emotions are freed through listening. Objects are created by awakening the wisdom of the hands, through the choice of materials and colours. A project is created, one expresses oneself in front of an audience. These are just some of the skills acquired through art and they all form part of the same process: creating a bridge between ourself and others, keeping a door to ourself open and being able to return to it at any time.
At the end of each project, I like to imagine that small seeds have been planted and hope that maybe one day, who knows, they will sprout and bear fruit and flowers of unexpected and extraordinary shape and colour.
